28 Οχτωβρίου. Ήταν μέρα γεμάτη σήμερα. Γεμάτη κόσμο, συζητήσεις, γνωριμίες, χειραψίες, αγκαλιές και φιλιά. Εκεί ο Πρόεδρος της Βουλής, εκεί ο περιφεριάρχης, ο δήμαρχος, βουλευτές, εκπρόσωποι των Ενόπλων Δυνάμεων. Για μένα όμως ήταν ιδιαίτερα μια μέρα γεμάτη με αναμνήσεις, με συγκίνηση.

Μιλάω για τα εγκαίνια του ανακαινισμένου Προξενείου της Ελλάδας στην διάρκεια της Ιταλοκρατίας, για το πατρογονικό μου σπίτι μ’ άλλα λόγια, εκεί που γεννήθηκα και μεγάλωσα.
Χάρηκα και καμάρωσα να το βλέπω να πέρνει ζωή, έτσι που να συνεχίζει τώρα την ιστορική του πορεία όπως του αξίζει. Πίσω τώρα στην Λαχανιά και πολύ κουρασμένος όπως είμαι δεν θα γράψω παραπάνω.

28 October. It’s been a full day today, full of everything… people, discussions, meetings and introductions, handshakes, hugs and kisses. The chairman of the Parliament was there and also the Governor of South Aegean, and the Mayor of Rhodes, and members of the parliament and the armed forces. As for me it was a day full of memories and emotions.
Of course, I speaking about the inauguration of the newly restored building that was the Consulate of Greece during the years of the Italian occupation… in other words the house of the Pavlidis family, built by my great grand father, the house were I was born and grew up.
I was very happy and proud to se it acquiring the new life it deserves and to continue on its historical destiny. Back to Lachania now and tired as I am I will stop here at present.
NOTE: 28 October is a national holiday in Greece, the day that fascist Italy attacked Greece in 1940. It is also a special day for Rhodes and the Dodecanese: this year the 28 October also marks 70 years from the official reunification of the Dodecanese with Greece, after more than 700 years of foreign occupation.
