Η ελιά – The olive tree, του Βαγγέλη Παυλίδη

Βαγγέλης Παυλίδης

The trunks of the trees are tortured by an agonizing effort. They twist, they kneel to pray, they raise tough arms, limbs tortured in movement, full of elbows and knees. Their twisted roots are sucking from the heart of the earth for the lamp of the saints and the salad of the poor.

Stratis Myrivilis, “From Greece”
