Οι απόφοιτοι εφέτος λόγω κορωνοϊού και μέτρα κοινωνικών αποστάσεων δεν είχαν την ευκαιρία να χαρούν και να γιορτάσουν μαζί με τους συμμαθητές και δασκάλους τους το επιστέγασμα των κόπων τους που είναι η αποφοίτηση τους.
Πολλά σχολεία ανήρτησαν τις φωτογραφίες των αποφοίτων σε περίοπτες θέσεις και άλλα έκαναν διαδικτυακές αναρτήσεις με ευχές από τους δασκάλους προς όλους τους μαθητές.
Το ελληνο-αμερικανικό ημερήσιο σχολείο «Βασίλειος Σπυρόπουλος» της Νέας Υόρκης από το οποίο προ ετών αποφοίτησαν οι κόρες μου πήγε ένα βήμα παραπέρα και πρωτοτύπησε.
Μαζεύτηκαν όλοι οι δάσκαλοι, η διευθύντρια και ο παπάς της ενορίας του Αγ.Νικολάου -στην οποία ανήκει το σχολείο- μπήκαν όλοι σε καμμιά δεκαριά αυτοκίνητα και επισκέφθηκαν και τους 35 απόφοιτους στα σπίτια τους κορνάροντας έξω από το σπίτι του καθενός δημιουργώντας μια αναπάντεχη γιορτινή ατμόσφαιρα! Αφού κατέβηκαν από τα αυτοκίνητα, χτύπησαν το κουδούνι και όταν βγήκε ο/η απόφοιτος όλοι μαζί τον/την χειροκρότησαν!
Μετά τοποθέτησαν στον κήπο μια πινακίδα που έγραφε συγχαρητήρια στον/στην απόφοιτο του σπιτιού και κορνάροντας και πάλι αποχώρησαν.
This year’s graduates because of Covid-19 and social distancing did not have the opportunity to celebrate -after years of hard work -their graduation along with their fellow students and teachers.
A lot of schools put out on their building walls the pictures of the graduates thus giving them some sort of recognition!
Other schools used the internet to post wishes from faculty to the graduates.
However the Greek-American Day School “William Spyropoulos” from which my daughters graduated, did something extraordinary.
All the teachers of the graduating class along with the principal and the priest of St.Nicholas- the parish the school belongs to – got into about 10 cars and drove to all 35 graduates’ homes. They arrived un-announced blowing their horns creating a festive happening. Then they got out rung the bell and when the graduate appeared they applauded in unison. After that they placed a congratulatory plaque in front of the house which announced that a graduate lived there!
And with that they got back into their cars and while blowing their horns drove to the next graduate.
